Local swell, wind, and tide notes for Wellfleet

Cahoon Hollow in Wellfleet is a classic Outer Cape bar beach with a lively summer scene at the nearby deck bar. Solid surf when east swell runs and wind stays west.

Best swell
East and southeast swells are best. Cahoon picks up Atlantic energy easily and can get punchy on shorter-period wind swell too.
Best wind
West offshore wind keeps faces clean. Onshore afternoons in summer are common - dawn patrol often wins.
Tide tip
Mid tide is the most reliable window. Low tide shorebreak can be heavy near the access path.

Intermediate. Popular with experienced Wellfleet surfers; beginners should avoid crowded peak days.
